Welcome to the May 2025 edition of Vikela’s monthly technology & business development newsletter. This month has brought exciting international exposure, important regulatory updates, and meaningful progress in our internal innovation efforts.
We hope our readers enjoy this update, and as always, thank you for your continued support! 👏
🇯🇵 International Exhibition: DESI Japan
We’re thrilled to share that Vikela was proudly featured by our Japan-based distribution partner Robotics Centre Japan at this year’s DSEI Japan, Asia’s leading defence and security exhibition.
Our 3D-printed body armour solutions gained significant interest, with attendees keen to learn more about the benefits of 3D printed protection. Being showcased at an international platform like DSEI highlights the growing global relevance of our work and marks a pivotal step in our Asia-Pacific outreach strategy.
A huge thank you to our distribution team and all the visitors who engaged with our technology—stay tuned for more global collaborations!
BVCA Northern Ireland Invest Dinner
We were delighted to be invited by Two Magnolias Venture Capital to the BVCA Northern Ireland Invest Dinner — a truly inspiring evening celebrating the vibrant investment landscape in Northern Ireland. Thank you to the BVCA for the kind invitation and for bringing together such a dynamic group of leaders, investors, and innovators.
Congratulations to the 2025 Northern Ireland Vision Award winners — it was a privilege to be in the room with such forward-thinking companies and their incredible backers.
We’re also proud to support the 10,000 Interns Foundation, BVCA’s charity partner, working to create meaningful opportunities across the industry.
🎉 Celebrating 180 Years of Queen’s University! 🎓
We were proud to take part in celebrating 180 years of Queen’s University Belfast — an institution with a remarkable legacy of excellence and innovation. As part of the event, Queen’s launched its Queen’s Leaders Program (18–45) — an exciting initiative aimed at empowering the next generation of global leaders across industries.
The celebration brought together an impressive network of alumni — including a BAFTA-winning creator of Blue Lights, pioneers in cancer research, and leaders at the forefront of international law.
We’re honoured to be connected to a university whose graduates continue to make such a powerful impact around the world.
Other news in May
Updates to the Home Office Standards.
The UK Home Office recently released updates to its testing standards for stab and spike body armour. These revisions include new process of product certification, product details and reporting as well as hopefully moving the system to be done online in the next 12 months. This will create a more streamlined certification process making it more efficient for business to bring new innovations to the market. Our team has been diligently reviewing these changes to ensure full alignment across our development roadmap. We look forward to continuing working with the Home Office certification process and bringing more of Vikela’s innovations to the market.
Boosting Print Efficiency: Internal Innovation in Action
As part of our ongoing efforts to improve operations, we’ve launched a targeted initiative aimed at increasing efficiency across our processes. Recent enhancements have focused on reducing turnaround times, improving quality, and minimizing waste — all contributing to faster cycles and more sustainable outcomes. These updates mark a meaningful step forward in our ability to scale effectively and deliver better results. A big thank-you to the teams involved for their dedication and drive in making this happen!
